- Demonstrating Design, Information Management, and Operational Capabilities to Meet Global Demands, Including the Czech Nuclear Power Plant Project -

On December 11, KEPCO E&C, a company specializing in engineering, including nuclear design, obtained ISO 19650 certification, the international standard for Building Information Modeling (BIM). BIM is a 3D-model-based technology that manages information and processes throughout the entire lifecycle of infrastructure construction projects.

ISO 19650, established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 2018, is an international BIM standard aimed at promoting the use of information technology in the construction industry and enhancing management efficiency. 

The certification audit is carried out in two stages⎯Stage 1 (preliminary audit) and Stage 2 (main audit)⎯to evaluate the conformity and effectiveness of the BIM process. KEPCO E&C successfully passed both Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits, ing that its construction information management system complies with the latest international standards and is being implemented effectively.

The client of the Czech nuclear power project currently in negotiations requires a standardized construction information management system equivalent to ISO 19650-based information management certification. In addition, as verification of certification and compliance with this standard are increasingly required across the global market, KEPCO E&C has demonstrated that its design information management and operation processes meet international standards.

KEPCO E&C expects this certification to further enhance the reliability of its designs and significantly strengthen its competitiveness in securing new contracts. The company also plans to step up efforts to gain a competitive edge in the global market by continually improving its BIM capabilities and design and operation processes.
