Contract Title Behavior and Design of Steel Plate Composite (SC) Wall – to –Reinforced Concrete (RC) Wall Mechanical Connections
Contract Overview This project will investigate the behavior and develop design guidelines for steel plate composite (SC) wall to reinforced concrete (RC) wall connections.
The specific objectives of this project are to (i) develop the design method for SC wall-to-RC wall connections, (ii) experimentally verify the performance criteria and design approaches of the designed SC-to-RC connections, (iii) conduct analytical parametric studies to evaluate the effects of various design parameters, and (iv) provide technical support with regulatory review and approval for the structure design.

Reason(s) for the Sole Sourcing The Purdue Research and engineering team led by Prof. Amit Varma is the leading group and world renowned expert team on behavior analysis, design, and testing of steel -concrete composite structures for safety-related nuclear facilities. Prof. Varma and the research engineer have participated in analytical and experimental work conducted on various project, such as AP1000 and CIS SC wall Project. And also, Purdue team has worked closely with the AISC in development of Steel Design Guide 32 "Design of Modular Steel-Plate Composite Walls for Safety Related Nuclear Facilities".
When the technical level and short estimated project duration (about 12 months in research) are considered, Prof. Varma and his exprienced engineers is the only contractor to performed the project successfully.
