On February 15, KEPCO E&C signed an agreement with KIT for business cooperation under the Department of Digital Fusion Engineering Contracts as a master’s degree and PhD course.

The signing ceremony held at KIT was attended by KEPCO E&C CEO Kim Sung-arm, KIT president Kwak Ho-sang, and parties concerned. They agreed to work together for mutual growth in relevant areas including operation of digital academy in addition to the opening of the department concerned.

KIT will launch the master’s degree and PhD course leveraging our accumulated ample experience in education of those from businesses as an engineering school specializing in specific areas of the times warranting the training of digital technology experts who need to carry out strategic projects in the future. The course will start in early March, while classes will be held in the evening. The master’s degree course is for four semesters (two years) and the PhD course for five semesters (two & half years).

The course subjects include digital technology-related topics such as data communications network/ cybersecurity, mobile intelligent robot, machine learning/ deep learning, big data analysis, computer vision, etc. Its classes will include ICT fusion seminars, intensive learning courses, AWP (Advanced Work Packaging), etc.

KEPCO E&C expects that the opening of this department will go a long way to train talented people specializing in digital technology in lockstep with the government’s K-New Deal Policy, while enhancing its overall competitiveness and helping it secure capability for business development through digital engineering. The company plans to have three employees admitted into the PhD course and 12 employees to the master’s degree course in 2022 and select about 15 employees to attend the courses every year.

KEPCO E&C and KIT also plan to run the digital academy targeting all of our employees to enhance the each other’s overall digital technology capability and spread the digital culture.
