On December 11, KEPCO E&C signed an MOU with the Belgian company Tractebel at a ceremony held in Brussels, Belgium with KEPCO E&C President Lee Bae-soo and Tractebel Deputy CEO Gilles Bourgain in attendance.

KEPCO E&C was followed by discussions on the possibility of establishing effective partnerships and expanding cooperation in the area of business and technology.

President Lee said, “We hope that the signing of this MOU with Tractebel, a company with considerable experience in the nuclear power plant sector in Europe, will lead to exchanges of human resources and technology and joint business opportunities in the field of nuclear power and energy.”

Deputy CEO Bourgain was also enthusiastic about the possibility of exchanging human resources and technology with KEPCO E&C and hoped for joint advancement in BNPP LTEA, wind power generation and gas-fired combined-cycle power plants.

Under the terms of this MOU the two companies will cooperate in the following areas: energy projects involving renewable energy and hydrogen storage and hydrogen energy; construction of new nuclear power plants; engineering and dismantling of current nuclear power plants; acquisition of the APR1000 EUR certification; and development of professional human resources exchange programs.

KEPCO E&C is looking forward to using this opportunity to build a bridgehead for advancing into the European nuclear power plant markets and the area of renewable energy.
