2019 College Business Startup Club Challenge

KEPCO E&C jointly held the 2019 College Business Startup Club Challenge with the Korea Expressway Corporation and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority at the HQ building of the Korea Expressway Corporation in Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk on August 22.
 
Participating in the event included 11 recommended clubs out of 22 business startup clubs from 6 colleges including Kyungil University, Gumi University, Keimyung University, Gimcheon University, Gyeongbuk College of Health, and Daegu University.

The ideas from the contestants were judged on seven evaluation items such as △ the creativity and innovative features of the idea, △ practicality, and △ creation of economic values through question & answer and assessment by the judge group formed of employees of three companies and three outside experts.

3hreE, the self-charging electric bicycle, from Daegu University received the Grand Award while Tuktagi from Keimyung University received the Best Award, Drone Ping from Gumi University received the Excellent Award, and C-OT from Gimcheon University and R.L.C from Kyungil University received the Participation Award.

The five winners including the Grand Award winner received a total of 8.5 million won in prize money, and all participating clubs will receive the post-contest support for business startup including mentoring by experts, use of test-bed needed for technical test and demonstration, and marketing support.

KEPCO E&C signed the agreement to construct the cooperation system for business startups with other Gimcheon-based public enterprises, including the Korea Expressway Corporation and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority in July. The three enterprises agreed to participate jointly and cooperate mutually for △ local development, job creation, and business startup ecosystem creation by constructing the cooperation system for business startup support, △ sharing of information, infrastructure, and network related to business startup, △ active participation in collaborative projects to promote local business startups, and △ joint identification and implementation of local business startup support projects.

The three enterprises plan to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas such as solving the youth job issue and revitalizing the local economy through collaborative cooperation with local communities.
