PES Summer Camp to train future engineers

KEPCO E&C held the two-phase summer camp of Power Engineering School (PES), the education/training program for future engineers in the power and energy sectors.

Attending the PES summer camp were 62 sophomore and junior students majoring in science and engineering from 19 universities nationwide in the first phase held between July 1 and 5 and 32 sophomore and junior students majoring in science and engineering from 14 universities in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions in the second phase held between July 15 and 19.

The four-night, five-day education/training camp consisted of various programs such as fundamental engineering education in nuclear energy, thermal energy, and renewable energy, group work, and field trips.

The participants visited Weolseong Nuclear Power Plant to experience how their learnings at school are applied in actual power plants.

Students who showed outstanding performance upon completion of the camp received scholarships.

KEPCO E&C has been holding the PES Camp every summer and winter vacations since 2011 for science and engineering majors nationwide. To date, more than 800 students have participated in the program, which has received high praise from the participants.

In addition to the PES Camp, KEPCO E&C has been constructing the methodical lifecycle business start-up system such as the support of business startup clubs of local college students and young CEO training projects, and it has continued to offer various programs to train human resources and create quality jobs.
