- Strengthening of cooperation in new and existing nuclear power plants between two countries -



KEPCO E&C signed the MOU with UJV Rez (a nuclear research institute in the Czech Republic on February 25 as part of its activities to win project for new nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic.

The signing of the MOU is the opportunity to build the cooperation system with UJV Rev in nuclear power plant design and research and the localization of technology if KEPCO E&C receives the new nuclear power plant project in the future.

KEPCO E&C has been cooperating with UJV Rev such as the joint workshop for nuclear technology interchange over the years, and this MOU is intended to establish more substantive cooperation measures.

According to the MOU, both companies will carry out technology cooperation and project development for improvement of safety of existing nuclear power plants, technology cooperation for new nuclear power plants, and personnel and technology interchange for development of new nuclear reactor.

The MOU is expected to provide the opportunity for KEPCO E&C to attain the technology experience of VVER (Russian pressurized water nuclear reactor) operating in the Czech Republic and for UJV Rez to attain the technology related to equipment replacement of existing nuclear power plants in Korea.

KEPCO E&C plans to strengthen the cooperation with local agencies in the nuclear field in the Czech Republic to expand its export of nuclear technologies in the global market.
