KEPCO E&C won the contract for the Conceptual Design for Field Layout of MACST (Service for the received Multi-barrier Accident Coping Strategy (MACST) with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) on January 2.

The purpose of the project is to install promptly the portable mobile MACST system in all nuclear power plants following the new regulation enacted in June 2016 to “submit a plan to manage accidents” as prescribed in Article 20 (Operating Licenses) of the Nuclear Safety Act.

KEPCO E&C won the project through public bidding with total price of 8.08 billion won and project period of 13 months after contract signing.

It plans to carry out conceptual design works such as layout of the new portable in all nuclear power plants, interface with other systems, and necessary measures.

KEPCO E&C expects the project to help improve the safety of nuclear power plants and serve as the basis for the order of the Detailed Design Service Contract for Field Layout of MACST System as a follow-up. 

KEPCO E&C will also do its best to win orders for safety improvement projects and seismic safety improvement in addition to its core businesses, thanks to this project as the first order this year.
