KEPCO E&C signed the Agreement for Cable Engineering Support Services (CESS) Work Plan 4 with the International Organization for International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) on December 11.

The signing ceremony held in France was attended by Jin Tae-eun, Executive Senior Vice President of KEPCO E&C’s, and Bernard Bigot, General Secretary of ITER.

KEPCO E&C signed the Agreement for Cable Engineering Service with the total contract amount of EUR 18.3 million (about KRW 28.0 billion) with the ITER in May 2012 and had performed the cable design and technical support services for a 500 MWt nuclear fusion test reactor being constructed in southern France.

This Agreement for Work Plan 4 is meaningful in that it is the booking of a new expected project as the additional option work for 5 years after the initial 5 years of the cable engineering contract had been completed.

The ITER program is a joint international R&D project participated by 7 countries including Korea, the United States, the EU, Japan, China, Russia, and India for practical use of nuclear fusion energy.

This Agreement allows KEPCO E&C to continue participating in the largest joint international R&D project in history, and KEPCO E&C is committed to the successful completion of the project.
