The construction completion ceremony of KOSPO Youngnam LNG Combined Power Plant, whose A/E(Architect Engineering) was provided by KEPCO E&C, was held on July 19.

The ceremony was attended by more than 100 guests including Executive Vice President Byeon Hwa-un of KEPCO E&C, KOSPO President Shin Jeong-sik, Mayor of Ulsan Metropolitan City, and representatives of suppliers and constructors.

As a clean LNG power plant in line with the energy conversion era, KOSPO Youngnam Power is a 476MW combined power plant that applied the strictest engineering standard for environmental equipment at the same site as Youngnam Thermal Power Plant (two 200MW heavy oil units), which had been operated for 44 years before it was dismantled.

The construction of KOSPO Youngnam Power began in August 2015 after a year of government negotiation and project planning. KOSPO Youngnam Power Plant was able to begin commercial operation ahead of schedule in October last year.

KEPCO E&C signed the contract for A/E(Architect Engineering) service in August 2012, and it has been faithfully performing basic design, detailed design, and commissioning support through environment changes such as change of project owner and change of project execution mode over six years. The successful construction completion of the project has contributed greatly to balancing the national power supply and demand.
