Kick-off Meeting for the Kori Unit 1 Decommissioning Engineering Project

KEPCO E&C held the kick-off meeting for the Kori Unit 1 decommissioning engineering project on March 8.

The meeting was attended by thirty-four officials including Jo Jik-lae, Executive Senior Vice President of KEPCO E&C; Ahn Chang-yong, director of the Nuclear Power Environment Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; and Kim Jong-geol, Vice President of the Backend Management & Decommissioning Department of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP).

The meeting commenced with the presentation of the overall business plan for the A/E of the decommissioning of Kori Unit 1, followed by the plan for the engineering work to be carried out in each area, and a question and answer session.

“We at KEPCO E&C will do our best to successfully complete the project by utilizing our extensive experience of nuclear engineering,” said Jo Jik-lae, Executive Senior Vice President of KEPCO E&C.

“KEPCO E&C’s role is crucial for the successful execution of the first nuclear power plant decommissioning engineering project in Korea,” emphasized Ahn Chang-yong, director of the Nuclear Power Environment Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

“We need to focus on reducing trial and error to ensure the success of the project,” Kim Jong-geol, Vice President of Backend Management & Decommissioning Department of KHNP, said.

KEPCO E&C plans to strengthen its nuclear power plant decommissioning know-how as one of its future growth engines and develop the follow-up project by completing the Kori Unit 1 decommissioning engineering Project successfully.
