On November 2, KEPCO E&C signed an MOU with the Indonesia-based PLNE for cooperation in the power plant business in Indonesia.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Jae-won, Executive Senior Vice President of KEPCO E&C, Hernadi Buhron, president of PLNE, and representatives from both companies.

PLNE is a subsidiary of PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), an Indonesian power authority responsible for plant engineering and technical evaluation.

The signing of the MOU was a part of Mr. Hernadi Buhron’s visit to Korea to discuss long-term measures for cooperation in the power plant sector in Indonesia, including exchanges of human resources and technology between the two companies, mutual cooperation on the power plant business in Indonesia, and exchanges of information on power plants in Indonesia.

The MOU will present an opportunity for KEPCO E&C, which has extensive technical capability and experience in plant engineering, to forge a closer relationship with PLNE, which has a local network.

KEPCO E&C has accumulated experience of technical consulting on the 600MW coal-fired thermal power plant in Cirebon, as well as providing technical consulting for a feasibility study of the coal-fired thermal power plant in Bintan, Indonesia.

KEPCO E&C opened a local office in Jakarta, Indonesia in February 2017 in order to cooperate with local businesses and Korean companies in Indonesia and to establish a proper base for the Southeast Asian markets.

Based on this cooperation, KEPCO E&C plans to further strengthen its presence in Southeast Asian power plant markets including Indonesia.
