KEPCO E&C held its 146th Nuclear Safety Inspection Day event on May 30, with more than 100 personnel in attendance including Jik-rae Jo, Executive Senior Vice President, and other senior officials related to nuclear energy. The event featured presentations by external experts and engineering departments.

KEPCO E&C began holding the quarterly Nuclear Safety Inspection Day in 2003 to promote nuclear power plant safety and spread a culture of safety.

In his welcome speech, Jik-rae Jo, Executive Senior Vice President, said, "In order to win the public’s trust and build a consensus, we must achieve Zero Defects in the design of nuclear power plants by implementing thorough quality assurance activities, and all KEPCO E&C members should become safety inspectors and establish good safety habits and practices in order to improve design quality by identifying elements with room for further improvement.

In his lecture as an invited expert speaker, Lee Gang-jun, a senior researcher of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, introduced a case in the aviation industry under the theme of "Aviation Safety Culture" and emphasized the importance of safety culture, stating that "ineffective organizational culture lies behind every accident."

As a nuclear engineering firm, KEPCO E&C will continue with its efforts to build a safety culture in which staff members can communicate openly and frankly about design quality issues with “communication” as the corporate keyword.
