- Strategic partnership for expansion of ITER business and advance into the overseas nuclear reactor market -

KEPCO E&C President & CEO Park Koo-woun and Stephan Aubarbier, president of the Energy Infrastructure Department of Assystem in France, met at The Plaza Hotel, Seoul on April 17 to discuss methods of establishing sustainable cooperation for the development of the new International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) business, as well as a way of cooperating on the provision of long-term engineering support for the UAE’s Barakah nuclear power plants.

Assystem, the largest total engineering company in France, has been participating in the Construction Management-as-Agent services (CMA) of the ITER business since the establishment of the MOMENTUM Joint Venture with KEPCO E&C and the British company AMEC Foster Wheeler in 2016.

CEO Park commented, “We hope to estbalish a continuous cooperative relationship in the global energy plant market”, adding that, “There are many fields in the overseas market where cooperation beetween the two companies could result in huge positive synergy.”

KEPCO E&C plans to build on the tangible results achieved thus far by forming additional strategic partnerships in the European nuclear reactor market based on the performance of its joint business with Assystem in the overseas markets.

*ITER business : A large-scale international joint research and development program for the practical use of nuclear fusion energy involving seven advanced countries including the U.S, Russia, the EU, and Korea.
