KEPCO E&C had a meeting with Nawah Energy of UAE on September 9 to discuss the establishment of a cooperative relationship between both companies.

The participants in the meeting were the board members of each party, including Mr. Koo-woun Park, President and CEO of KEPCO E&C, and Mr. Mohammed Sahoo Al Suwaidi, CEO of Nawah Energy.

One of the main agendas that were discussed in depth was a sustainable long-term cooperative system that aims at the safe management of the Barakah nuclear power plant.

In particular, both companies agreed that they would consolidate the strategic partnership by building comprehensive cooperation between them regarding △ appropriate technical support for the status of nuclear power plant construction in Barakah, △ participation of KEPCO E&C in the long-term design service for the nuclear power plant units in operation, and △ joint R&D and manpower training.

Nawah Energy is the operator of Barakah nuclear power plant units 1~4. The company is an organization exclusively in charge of the efficient operation of nuclear power plants and was founded by Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC). KEPCO E&C is currently in talks with Nawah Energy to join the long-term design service for the nuclear power plant units in operation. Two workshops have already been held on this matter in Abu Dhabi.

In addition to the continual discussion on the long-term design service for the operating plant, both companies have also agreed that KEPCO E&C will provide Nawah Energy with its world-class engineering training program.
