KEPCO E&C has been awarded a technical support service contract by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power on June 2 for the replacement of Hanbit Units 5, 6 steam generators. Total contract value is ‎148.2 million won. This project is expected to run from June 2, 2016 to August 31, 2021.

 

The project aims to increase the nuclear plant’s safety and operational reliability by replacing four 1000 MW steam generators (2 generators per unit) with newer models. This is the 8th project of its kind in Korea following Kori Unit 1 (600MW), Hanul Units 1, 2 (950MW), Hanul Units 3, 4 and Hanbit Units 3, 4 (1000MW).

KEPCO E&C’s tasks include reviewing the technologies of the replacement steam generator, designing the temporary storage facility, making a steam generator and adjusting replacement construction technology, supporting relevant licensing, and providing technical support for commissioning for optimal performance as well as completion.

KEPCO E&C plans to complete this project successfully with accumulated skills and experience and pioneer new markets for replacing large machines in nuclear power plants.
