DeNOx System is the facility to eliminate nitrogen oxide (NOx), which is the major material causing acid rain and photochemical smog. NOx reduction technology can be divided into 3 fields: Pre-combustion denitrification, improvement of combustion conditions, and Post-combustion denitrification. Regarding the removal efficiency, Pre-combustion denitrification and the improvement of combustion conditions does not exceed maximum of 60%.
Accordingly, most of the DeNOx systems for power plant using fossil fuels apply Post-combustion denitrification, which has high denitrification efficiency. Of those, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is widely used throughout the whole world due to its excellent denitrification efficiency and high reliability.

Low Temperature Denitrification Catalyst, KoNOx®
KoNOx® is the denitrification catalyst developed by KEPCO E&C. The range of reaction temperature of the existing commercial SCR catalyst is high at 300–400℃, whereas KoNOx® catalyst has excellent removal efficiency of nitrogen oxide (NOx) at a wide temperature range of 170–550℃.
